4 Quick Tips to Keep Your Car Interior Beautiful

September 18, 2015

When it comes to car maintenance, most car owners do what is required to keep the vehicle running as it should. They change the oil, the tires, get routine engine checkups. But what about the interior “feel” of the car? Whether you are into restoring classic cars, or just need a few vinyl and upholstery fixes in your aging minivan, your car interior matters!

You spend a lot of time in the interior of your car, so you want the upholstery, leather, vinyl, chrome, and plastic to be in good shape. A shabby and/or cluttered car interior can seriously impact your mood and state of mind, not to mention it reduces the enjoyment of driving your car. And of course, neglecting your car’s interior will be quite damaging its value if and when you try to sell it to a new owner!

So, needless to say, maintaining your vehicle’s interior is just as important as under-the-hood maintenance! Here are five tips to help you keep your car looking great!

  1. First and foremost – commit to clean! Oh, we get it – not everyone is an OCD clean freak and it’s easy to let things get out of control. Clothes, soda cans, papers, etc. can quickly pile up if you’re not careful. However, like anything else in life, the best way to slow down the aging of your interior is to prevent what you can in the first place. Ideally, you’ll take the time to keep it cleaned and polished (or, if you prefer, we can handle that for you!). Regardless – do what you can to pick up debris/loose items every time you exit your car and empty your side door trash each time you fill up at the pump!
  2. Spring for the deluxe car wash treatment. Yep – in today’s hustle and bustle world where countless people are putting in 60, 70, even 80 hours a week, it’s impossible to find time to wash your car’s exterior…much less detail the interior. So, when you do take your car to your local car wash on a rare lunch break, go all-in on the deluxe treatment. Pay the few extra bucks so they’ll shampoo the carpets, vacuum the upholstery and polish dashboard surfaces. Your car will look like new, you will have added years to your interior and you will enjoy driving your car.
  3. You have a trunk – USE IT! Many of us get so busy that we throw groceries, sports equipment, shopping bags, etc. on our seats instead of the trunk. This can frequently lead to tears, scratches and nicks that damage the value and aesthetic appeal of the car. In the event that you do damage your seats, we’ve got your back at Creative Colors – we can fix that. However, to avoid those issues, use your trunk and floorboards to carry the load!
  4. And don’t forget the sunscreen… Yep – we’re serious. Just like that 90’s song – wearing sunscreen is important to extend your life…and your car’s! Putting in some sun film on your windows will help prevent a lot of damage from the sun. It’s not expensive and can extend the life of your interior. Help your car cover up while you lather up to protect against UV rays!

So you’ve done all these things but you still have issues with your interior? Creative Colors International can help you!
